Our approach to Baseline Survey
We conduct baseline surveys before projects have an observable impact. We however, first develop project objectives, outputs and indicators to clarify the logic of the project. Thus to collect relevant data that will help measure outcomes, we carry out the following steps: Decide on client research goals; Create a list of questions; Engage with the clients and gather their responses; Analyze results; Write a report; and Share best practices to inform future programming. Smartic Consulting Company uses several research methods in conducting baseline studies such as surveys, interviews, or focus groups.
Visual items, including photographs, maps and diagrams, are also important pieces of data often used in a baseline study. We use the following tools for baseline surveys: Stakeholder Identification; Stakeholder Analysis; Consultation Matrix; Partnership Assessment; Grievance Mechanism; Strategic Planning Framework; Community Mapping; and Institutional Analysis.
